Ferrin, Trensincourt, Nicolas, and Copernum- The Beyonders, Part 1

After leaving the town of the Tavern-Go-Round, Jason and Rachel continue their quest for Trensincourt and Nicolas.  On their way, they come across a bag hanging on a pole about 10 feet in the air, and they hear a voice coming from the bag.  It turns out it's a head of a man named Ferrin who was mugged by some men, and separated from his head.  But then if he has been separated from his head, how is his head still talking and alive?  The answer:  Ferrin is a displacer, which is a person who can separate body parts from his body, and they will fuse back together.  Also, when separated from his body, they continue to get blood circulated to their body, and can still feel.  And, Ferrin can even still control the rest of his body.  Anyway, he told them his body had been buried, and all the money he possessed had been taken away from him.  

Jason found where the earth had been tilled and disturbed, marking evidence that this was his burial site, and began digging with his hands to unearth his body.  He then stood on Ferrin's headless shoulders and retrieved his head from the bag.  Then Ferrin removed his head from the bag and fused it back to his neck.  He was so grateful that they had saved him that he agreed to travel with them as long as they were not scared of being prone to danger because displacers are despised and treated with hate and strife.  However, Jason and Rachel are also looked down on for the task they are undertaking, so they agree to travel with him.
