The Beyonders (Cont'd)
The bartender says they have puckerlies. They have the best seafood at the bar. They serve puckerlies alive. Puckerlies cost three and a half drooma. Puckerlies are eaten by squirting a little blue colored pulpa oil to loosen them up. Then you suck them out and they are gelatinous and good. They order a platter of puckerlies. There is a guy sitting at a table near the door that is feeling bad from the spinning. The guy asks for a bowl of clam chowder. The bartender says he needs to wash dishes or show him he has money. Jason offers to purchase clam chowder for the man. The man is one of the survivors of the Giddy 9, a group of performers. The man’s name is Tark. Simeon is the leader of the Giddy 9. A Prophetess told them that if they played music off of the waterfall they would summon a hero and that is how Jason arrived because there are no heroes in the land. Jason is the one that shot the arrow in the shoulder of one of the performers. Tark says that if he meets the one who shot the arrow he will kill him. Jason indicates that perhaps the one who shot the arrow was just trying to help them and remains silent about the arrow. Jason tells Tark if he really wants to be a hero and go after a villain, then he should go after Maldor. Tark agrees and gets confident and heads out of the TAVERN-GO-ROUND and starts stomping. In Lyrian, women do not count for much. Kerny asks Rachael and Jason how they liked the Puckerlies. Rachael responds first. Kerny gives Jason a weird look. Jason replies saying Rachael gets excited about her food. Kerny asks if Jason and Rachael need a place to stay. Kerny says his mother owns an inn. Kerny escorts Rachael and Jason to the Inn.
There is this guy with curly orange hair and tons of freckles wearing a long sack with holes in it who says that Jason and Rachael smell like foreigners. Kerny says it is five drooma for one room. Jason pays for two rooms. Jason explains Rachael is his sister, so the cost for the rooms is 8 drooma. Later on, Rachael and Jason receive a knock on the door. Jason opens it and it is Ned. Jason grabs his pinyard. Ned tackles him and takes the pinyard. Ned says that Jason knows of the book that is bound in human skin. Ned has a string and is controlled by Maldor. Ned covers the string on his hand with a black glove. Ned tells Jason he is in danger. Jason and Rachael are almost out of food to eat. Rachael goes to talk Gerta to see if she can get some food. ason naps. Ned taps on Jason’s window. Ned and Jason go up on the roof. Some guys come in and check the rooms. Jason and Ned jump off the roof. When the men cannot find Jason, they run away.
